Vine (Amazon Vine)
An Amazon program that gives free units to trusted reviewers in exchange for honest reviews.
Why it matters
Vine is the only Amazon-sanctioned way to seed reviews on a new product, and review count is one of the hardest cold-start problems in a launch. It is available to Brand Registry sellers for a per-ASIN enrollment fee.
In practice
Vine reviews are genuinely honest, which cuts both ways, a product with real problems will get real one-star reviews that stay on the listing. Fix quality issues before enrolling, not after.
