Prep
Preparing units to Amazon's inbound requirements, poly-bagging, bubble wrap, labeling, bundling, suffocation warnings.
Why it matters
Prep requirements are specific and enforced. Non-compliant shipments get charged unplanned prep fees at Amazon's rates, delayed at the fulfillment center, or refused outright, and each of those turns into a stockout while you sort it out.
In practice
The frequent ones: poly-bags need a suffocation warning above a certain size, sets must be marked as sold-as-set so they are not split, and expiration-dated goods have their own labeling and minimum-shelf-life rules. Getting prep right at the factory or 3PL is far cheaper than having Amazon do it.
