ROAS (Return on Ad Spend)

Ad revenue divided by ad spend, expressed as a multiple. The mathematical inverse of ACOS.

Why it matters

ROAS and ACOS carry identical information in opposite directions: a 4x ROAS is a 25% ACOS. Amazon-native sellers tend to speak in ACOS; teams coming from Meta or Google are usually fluent in ROAS. Knowing both keeps you from talking past a partner or an investor.

In practice

ROAS is the more intuitive number when you are comparing Amazon against other channels, because a multiple travels across platforms in a way a percentage of a platform-specific revenue figure does not. Within Amazon, ACOS remains the working number simply because everyone else uses it.
